The WCD Department with the ICDS and IWDS (Integrated Child Development Service and Integrated Women’s Development Service) functions for the Empowerment, upliftment and welfare of Women and children under its various schemes. Initiated by GOI, the ICDS and IWDS scheme was launched in 1975 and expanded to over 5000 + projects spread over 35 states benefiting 35 million children (0-6 years) and about 6.6 million pregnant and lactating mothers through a network of 6 lac Anganwadi centres.

The Gujarat government is providing a total of 51 services through digital platforms in 8,000 villages. Out these, 35 services have already started through digital platforms. Mandvi Municipality’s Citizen Smart Card Scheme initiative will inspire other local bodies to follow the suit. The details of how to apply online for Citizen Smart Card Scheme in Gujarat are not out yet.
The scheme has officially been launched in a single municipality for now and is expected to be expanded to other municipalities or at the state level. Only after its official launch, the state govt. will invite Citizen Smart Card Scheme application form. These registration forms may be invited through the state govt’s official https://www.digitalgujarat.gov.in/ website or at a new dedicated portal.
